When you just happen to have an early Jonathan Lasker in your back porch converted room,
you might have students take camera phone pictures of it when you're not looking.

one million thesis show teasers
So I started installing my thesis show this morning after packing til 4am last night. The gallery is stingy on only letting us install during regular hours so I really only have two work days to install one million paintings.
Here's one of them.
If you were to say to me, "Jared, I like the drawing on your thesis show postcard but why not use an image of one of the actual one million paintings?", I would say, "because none of them were done yet" but I would think about using this one.
I've had the bunny with the "Jared" written on it for quite awhile from a Utah thrifting adventure long ago (I didn't write it). But the geometric bunny I found while thrifting with Casey Smith in the Mission District last month. Nice little pair.

one million dana schutz hunches
Maybe I will give you bits of my studio visiting New York trip, bit by bit as I need breaks from making one million paintings.
I think it might be o.k. to show this camera phone photo from Dana Schutz's studio now that the show has been up. That's the back of Dr. Hobbs' shoulder on the right.
I had heard that Dana was friendly and nice, but when our class entered her studio I was unprepared for her to approach me with the smile reserved for long lost friends.
Turns out, she thought I was fellow artist Jim Drain (pictured below)
So our next look-alike hunch comes courtesey of Dana Schutz.
When I finally investigated and found this photo I had to admit that there could be some resemblancing going on, plus I wear pink shirts 50% of the time.
This is the most recent known digital photograph of me standing to the left of a girl - Jim is standing next to Naomi Fisher and I next to Natalie Fisher! (for a more true comparison) plus one of my five adorable nieces, Sammy Jo, right before going to church in San Francisco.

one million thesis postcards
This also serves as my explanation for why I haven't posted the promised New York and DC photographs with their accompanying stories: one million paintings to finish and one million words to write.
I also printed a new little booklet of the Bilds.
Here are some peeks of things you might remember:
There's about 40 images with most of the Bilds from the first to the most recent in Oakland.
If you're interested I will definitely sell you some for $15 a piece.
